| may 5: boys' day |
| Boys' Day, or Tango-no-Sekku in Japanese, is of course the counter-balance to Girls' Day. Traditional celebrations include the flying of banners shaped like carp, and displays of heirloom swords and armor. The Agency suggests that you observe Boys' Day by acting "like a boy." If you are one, celebrate your boyness as never before; if you're a girl, take advantage of the opportunity to play rough, get dirty and be the disruptive classroom influence rather than the nurturer! Inspirations for the day include Transformers, Star Wars figurines, Legos and other boy-toy relics. A good indoor activity is building forts, possibly out of beer cans and sofa cushions. Agent Courtney and Friend of Leisure DQ suggested this holiday. |
